This website’s Soul Purpose* is to make your picture framing wishes come true!
* Soul Purpose, not sole purpose
There are other resources on the internet whose sole purpose is to teach you to frame a picture.
The Framing Godmother understands art comes from the heart. That sometimes an image escapes the imagination of one and touches another on a transcendental level. Laying eyes on such a thing penetrates our soul and creates a deep desire to hang that slice of heaven on the wall.
Other times, not so much.
Certificates and dumb gifts from well-meaning friends need to be framed too.
This is me, Marla, your Framing Godmother. ^^^
I’m an ART nerd.
Can’t help it. Being an art nerd is one of the few things I can legitimately blame on my mother. I grew up in a house that smelled of oil paint and I spent long weekends roaming museums with her.
My medium is everything.
Every artist out there realizes a statement like “my medium is everything” means I haven’t mastered a single one : ) Thing is, I don’t need to, to appreciate them all. And that’s why I’m so good at framing. I have dabbled, worked, experimented, screwed up and created in pastels, watercolors, textiles, clay, acrylics, torn paper, photography, printmaking, you name it. Understanding techniques, their strengths and their weaknesses, gives me an advantage when deciding the best way to exhibit a masterpiece.
If you’re interested in my formal training, I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas. My concentration, Visual Communications (formerly known as Graphic Design) with a minor in Business.
Spend even a moment on this website and you’ll see I have a thing for splashy graphics and oddly over-processed pictures.
I’m also a word nerd.
Can Framing really be a SOUL Purpose?
Sure. Why not?
I’m a true believer that we were each placed on this planet and given a purpose.
A certain something we are MEANT to do.
I’ve been wandering around, collecting knowledge and experience, trying to find mine. I’m thinking this may be it! People nearest and dearest to me have mentioned more than once that my interest in frames and framing is borderline unhealthy. I get a kick out of choosing the perfect finish to inanimate things that demand to be seen. I know art and paper and fabric and such.
So I’m saying yes! Framing can be a SOUL purpose!
Thanks for reading this far!
